“This was a cool one because I was literally on a Bandcamp binge just clicking around and they had this four-track EP called Skyjelly & SUN. I believe there were CDs of it but nothing else. I was listening to it thinking that these guys definitely deserved an audience and yet, Googling them and whatever, you didn’t see a lot of coverage. The A-side (Blank Panthers) was recorded by Dave Auchenbach, who recorded Lightning Bolt and all those cool albums. It’s got that sound that only he can capture, where you can feel the roundness of the bass, there’s a little bit of reverb on everything, and there’s a darkness to it, but at the same time there’s so much power. ”

We have a great couple of releases lined up for January, the first being the brand new album from Boston’s Skyjelly whose debut just made The Quietus’ Best Tapes of 2016 list. The new one, Gost, is arguably even better. It’s a weird, warped lo-fi psychedelic oddity that couldn’t be better suited to the format. It’s brilliantly fucked up and I can’t wait to release it. There simply isn’t another band around who sound anything like them.

"What Have You Done sounds like it could be on the edgy soundtrack of a cyberpunk film based on a Neal Stephenson novel.
Featuring drums, guitars, vocals, tambourine, as well as the maracas and techno sounds, this song creates a overlapped sound that makes you want to dance. I put it on repeat-- can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!' - Harmony Witte (Boston Hassle)
Looped claps, drums, and shakers craft a fiery groove and rugged guitars interleave slyly. Echoed and barely intelligible vocals latch around the repetition for a while, then at three minutes a searing guitar solo melts your face right off. Think a Butthole Surfers’ wig out executed with William Onyeabor’s lo-fi funk aesthetic.
